40 year old but still young – “Internet”
On 2nd September, 1969, the University of California, Los Angles, connect two computers to share simple data. Both computer are set up in gap of 15 foot only and connected via a grey cable. They successfully share some data and journey of Internet start from there, as year passed internet is developed more and more.This experiment conducted to test the “Arpanet” a military network. That was small experiment, but that time nobody think that there small experiment will going to be a bigger and will be a fast mode of communication for entire world in future.Internet is evolved process. It developed slowly, slowly but now technology is changing in every minute. In 1974 Arpanet change it face and get first International nodes between England and Norway, after that actual internet come into form. Now we use is very advance Internet technology compare to those days Arpanet. Following details show the step by step progress on the area of Internet: –1969 – University of California, Los Angeles, connect two computers to exchange the simple data between them. This network is called “Arpanet – Military Network”.
1972 – To communicate via email in network of computers – Ray Tomlinson introduced new method of emailing by using “@” (more specify emailing system) between computers with specify email address.
1973 – England and Norway is connected each other via international nodes. This is first step towards the “Internet Connection” and after that “Arpanet” is change to “Internet” and actual Internet is come into form.
1974 – New technique of communication “TCP” is develop which allow multiple networks and understands one another, by Vint Cerf and Bob Kahn.
1983 – Formation of domain name came into active. Only having domain is incomplete so a year after domain get specific suffix like “.gov”, “.com”, or “.edu”. Now a days suffix is based on the geographical location also (according to the country or abbreviation for country is use as suffix for domain.).
1988 – First internet worm “Morris” is made which harm many computers.
1990 – World Wide Web (www) is created by Tim Berners-Lee which very useful to control the computers remotely.
1993 – “Mosaic” – a web browser is developed by Marc Andreessen and colleagues at University of Illinois. “Mosaic” is first browser which allows the graphics and text on a single page.
1994 – Marc Andreessen and team of Mosaic form a company and develop first commercial web browser – “Netscape”.
Two Lawyers are used the Internet for advertising their Green Card Lottery Service. This is first time when world experience the “Spam” in internet.
1998 – One of the biggest search engine – “Google” is formed in small room at Stanford.
To avoid the same domain names in internet, US government form ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned and Numbers) under the Domain Name Policies.
2004 – “Facebook” is founded by Mark Zuckerberg at Harvard University.
2005 – Famous Video sharing website “Youtube” is launched.
At early stage it had very limited access but now it does not have any limitation. You can do many things by sitting in front of computer. Your bank, your company, your shopping malls and your job can be access through the Internet.
China is having most internet users – 298 millions people, after that USA – 227 million. In India 81 million people are using internet. In 1999 world have 250 million users in worldwide and within ten year it cross to 1.5 billion in 2008. Millions of new users are added day by day. Google is most visited website in whole World Wide Web. It is good source of information. After that Yahoo is most visited websites.
Many people are living an internet life style, using a social network website creating friends in global. Orkut, Facebook, Youtubes, Digg, Delicious are few famous social network websites which allow users to stay connected for 24/7 with friends and relatives. Yahoo Messenger or Google Talk is a Chat room which allows chat or conference with video with friends or anyone from entire world. Internet is very useful for knowledge seekers but at same it has plenty of bad websites. Many cheating business are run through internet. Many blue films are loaded in video sharing websites which spoil the young generations’ mentality. Many hackers are sited globally to steel your personal details like bank account number or passwords of bank transactions.
To avoid internet crimes many countries have there own Cyber Crime Law which bound the internet users as well as the criminals.
Internet is big invention for human being. It connect whole world via a wires and satellites. All the work is based on the internet. It is great medium of getting the information; data is available for 24/7 and can be access in any remote area no need to carry a documents in brief case. But at same time internet can be most harmful because availability of data theft and hackers in internet. Internet is good and genuine but at same time it is big cheater.
Think what will happen if service gone for a minute or a hour……………….
